Arches and lines – Ontario Place, River North

The Near North Side is full of interesting architecture, but I’m not sure Ontario Place is one of the more lauded structures or otherwise. I was drawn to the juxtaposed arches and hard lines. You get the massive arc of the entrance and the smaller, repeating arches in brickwork, but then there’s the staunch marble column breaking the space from the street. I’d have to imagine this was a deliberate attempt to control the environment of the entrance, making it feel separate from the surrounding area.

I can tell you that Ontario Place is pet friendly and has been around for 29 years. I know, I bring some pretty cool facts to the blog some days! Oh, and I loved the way the streetlights behind me reflected back in the shiny marble finish. I made sure to lengthen the exposure enough to get all three colors.
