Out of left field

With time running out on the baseball season I decided to take in a few innings at U.S. Cellular Field as the first-place White Sox battled the second-place Tigers. This wasn’t a good night for the Sox though, as they were beaten 8-6, but they currently stand three games clear of Detroit with 15 to play. Things look pretty good for making the playoffs.

This park has one of the finest fields in all of baseball – if not the finest – and the mow strips always flow directly out to center field. I’ve been on the field well over 100 times, and it is truly amazing how pristine it is kept. You’ll probably want to know what “YOU’LL WANT TO KNOW” is all about on the advertisement board of the grandstand. I forget.

Oh, I almost forgot this, too. That photo of the city skyline from a couple of nights ago… it was taken from the ramp outside the stadium’s second deck. The exit to that walking deck is directly behind me from this vantage point.
