Hunger striker

It’s not surprising to see protesters in the streets of Chicago. Many causes pop up via picket signs and shouting on city sidewalks from time to time. This man is one of the more frequent protest sights at Daley Plaza. Only a little bit has been written about him here, here and here. He protests silently and doesn’t seem to cause any trouble. Photographers sometimes walk right up to him to take photos, but he doesn’t budge and doesn’t seem bothered by it. I decided to give him a little space and took this photo from about 15 feet behind him. The Time Out Chicago article took a similar angle, I see. Maybe their photographer felt as I did, that context provided a sense of bleakness to the scene.
